ਗੇਲੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਬਦਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ। ਉਹ ਲਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਦੀ ਦੇਹ ਕੰਬਣ ਲੱਗੀ। ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਓਹੀ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਆ ਗਈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ’ਤੇ ਉਹਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇਸੂ ਬਾਮ੍ਹਣ ਦੇ ਜਮਾਈ ਅੱਛਰੂ ਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਗੇੜਾ ਦੇ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹਨੇ ਬੈਠੀ-ਬੈਠੀ ਨੇ ਤਾੜ ਕਰਦਾ ਇਕ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਾ ਥੱਪੜ ਗੁਲਾਬੋ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ੍ਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਜੜ ਦਿਤਾ। ਉਹ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਲਾਬੋ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਮਰੋੜਕੇ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਥੱਲੇ ਫਰਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ। ਦੋ ਲੱਤਾਂ ਕਸਕੇ ਉਹਦੀ ਵੱਖੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ। ਲੱਤਾਂ ਕਸੂਤੇ ਥਾਂ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਉਹਤੋਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ। ਮਰਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੂਧੇ-ਮੂੰਹ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਗੇਲੋ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਝੋਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਦੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹਦੇ ਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਥੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਖ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ‘ਹਰਾਮਜਾਦੀ, ਡੈਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਦੀ!’
