ਉਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋੱ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਹੋੱਦ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋੱ ਇਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਅਰੂ ਨਾੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਾਲ ਖੂਨ ਹੀ ਵਗਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਕਦੋੱ ਦੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਮੈਥੋੱ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ-ਕੋਈ ਜਿਉੱਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਦੇ-ਕਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਤੋੱ ਤੁਰ ਗਏ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕਿੱਧਰ ਗਏ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ। ਨਾ ਉਹ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਨ, ਨਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ। ਉਹ ਸਿਰ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ। ਹੁੰਦਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ। ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹੀ ਤਮੰਨਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ····
